Rogue River Fly Fishing Report by Jim Andras
This past week the Rogue River fished really well. We continue to find steelhead throughout the upper river with the best water conditions above Tou Velle Park.
Flows have actually jumped about 500 cfs and are currently holding just under 2000. This increase brings the river closer to its seasonal norm and it should pull more steelhead upriver. September is right around the corner; it’s time to get your steelhead on!

Winter Steelhead fishing Rogue River
Rachel and I floated the upper Rogue last Thursday in search of one fish. We hoped to tail a bright, wild winter steelhead to tide us over until the summers start showing up in July. We fished beneath a vivid blue sky and the rivers current carried just the right color. The conditions and company were perfect and ultimately, so was the steelhead. She held in beautiful water, took the fly with confidence, fought valiantly and returned home with dignity.
With the boat on the trailer at noon, we celebrated her over a burger and a beer, made a toast to her progeny and to the spring and summer fishing that lies ahead.

"Hello Jim,
Thanks again for the great trip. Brian, Jay and I had a terrific time thanks to your hard-work and expert guiding. We hope we can fish with you again soon. I am including a couple of pictures of Jay and Brian catching their FIRST steelhead (actually Jay caught a much smaller one earlier in the day, but we don’t count that one!).
Tight lines,
Paul"

Lees Ferry Hosted Trip with Rachel Andras
Jim and I were lucky enough to have spent many years fishing at Lees Ferry and find it a magical place to experience. With condors flying, roadrunners racing, and amazing sunsets across the cliffs it is really hard to beat. As far as the fishing goes, zooming up river to gravel bars holding beautiful rainbow trout and casting a 5 weight – makes Lees Ferry one of our favorite places to be. We hope you will join us this spring.
The Colorado River is an amazing rainbow trout fishery just below Glen Canyon Dam, the beginning of the Grand Canyon. With 15.5 miles from the outflow of Lake Powell to the upper end of the Grand Canyon, anglers use jet boats to cover the river yet most fishing is done by wading.
The Schedule
May 11th: Arrive Lees Ferry. We suggest flying into Las Vegas or Phoenix and renting a car for your drive to Lees Ferry. This is a beautiful scenic trip that takes 4 1⁄2 hours. US Airways also services Flagstaff which is 2 hours away from the river.
Once you get checked into the Cliff Dwellers Lodge we can prepare for the next day of fishing and enjoy a wonderful meal at the restaurant. Meals are not included but a running tab will be arranged to each angler.
May 12-13-14: Guided fishing with Lees Ferry Anglers on the amazing Colorado River. Our days will begin around 7am and we will fish 8 hours. For those who would like to fish longer, there is a walk-in section as well to enjoy.
May 15: Depart after breakfast. If you have time to check out the surrounding areas you may want to consider visiting the Grand Canyon National Park, Flagstaff (2 hrs from LF, Bryce and Zion Parks 2 1⁄2 hrs from LF)
